  • Will be an enthusiastic and professional Account Manager to present and promote STARLAB products to the highest standard.
  • Is customer and performance-focused, delivering first-class service with integrity and positivity.
  • Can work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Can organise and manage one’s time diligently between customer visits, administration, and other role-critical tasks.
  • Will work closely with management to agree and achieve our key account strategy and targets.
  • Will continuously strive for development and ensure their knowledge of our portfolio of products is second to none.

The role:

  • The territory is primarily SW London covering the Postcodes – GU, HA, KT, W, UB, TW, SW, SM, and SL areas, although from time to time you may be required to cover other areas to ensure the company’s business needs are met. The candidate will ideally need to live in South West London within the M25 with a short commute time to key accounts in Hammersmith, South Kensington, and Sutton.
  • The role involves a high level of travel to customer locations within your territory and may involve travel throughout the UK.
  • The need for overnight stays may be required.

The successful candidate will:

  • Achieve annual sales targets and objectives.
  • Manage and grow an existing sales base and develop new customer relationships.
  • Arrange appointments, follow-up on quotes, samples, and leads.
  • Strategically identify and conduct key account analysis, create and develop plans to maintain existing business and gather intelligence for new opportunities.
  • Meet with customers to present and demonstrate STARLAB products and lead generation, initiate and communicate proposals relevant to customer needs and use negotiation skills to achieve a successful sale.
  • Create and maintain records within our internal CRM system to assist with customer contact traceability, initiating proposals and customer-specific information.
  • To present and contribute to internal and external meetings.
  • Prepare information as needed for customer meetings and discussions with management.
  • Respond to customer inquiries promptly, liaising with internal support to assist where necessary.
  • Support business initiation, representing the company at mini-exhibitions.
  • Adhere to sales and organisational policies and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Maintain customer Price Lists.
  • Work closely with sales managers to develop proposals and set customer pricing and report sales performance.

Successful jobholders must have a science degree (preferably in Biological Sciences) or equivalent level of attainment. Knowledge of techniques such as Molecular Biology, Tissue Culture, and Liquid Handling is very important. You must have a Full UK Driving Licence and Eligibility to Work in the UK. We are looking for a dynamic, personable and self-motivated individual with good organisational skills. In addition, an important prerequisite is the desire to work hard and succeed in a competitive market. Previous experience within scientific research, medical or industrial environment is an advantage.

Lab/Field Service & Calibration Technician (Milton Keynes)

Job Description

STARLAB (UK), Ltd. are part of a Europe-wide group specialising in liquid handling products, supplying laboratories throughout the UK. ISO 17025 Accredited since 2010; we are known for delivering high-quality work and excellent customer service.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Lab/Field Service Technician to join our Service team on a permanent basis; providing the service and calibration of pipettes to our varied customer base. The successful candidate will primarily work alongside our Laboratory Technicians based at our Milton Keynes Office. You will be expected to travel to external clinics around the UK when required to service and calibrate pipettes at the customer site to assist with business demand.

We service and calibrate all makes and models of pipettes both manual and electronic in accordance with ISO policies.

Overview of the Role:

To service, repair, calibrate and perform preventative maintenance of pipettes both in-house and at customer sites; always ensuring Caltech (Service Department) operates to ISO 17025 standard within our industry.

The role will involve traveling to client locations throughout the UK and the need for overnight stays may be required.

To work towards targets agreed in conjunction with the Service Manager. To make positive contributions within the team. Administration support is also expected.

The Ideal Candidate:

Ideally you will have experience of working in a laboratory or service environment and will have experience of the use of pipettes; however, this is not essential as full training is provided.

Key Duties:

  • To act as an Ambassador of STARLAB (UK), Ltd at all times
  • To ensure Caltech operates to the ISO 17025 standard
  • To have a full understanding of the laboratory’s Quality Manual
  • Clean and service pipettes to the approved standard
  • Maintain records of pipettes serviced
  • Ensure correct health and safety practice is adhered to
  • Responsible for equipment needed for on-site calibration i.e. pipette spares, paper, etc
  • Ensure targets are achieved
  • Regular meetings for feedback within the group

You must have:

  • The ability to work with very small components
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good customer service skills
  • The ability to learn and handle technical enquiries, speaking with customers and problem-solving
  • Be PC literate in Microsoft products including Word, Excel & Outlook with the willingness and ability to learn bespoke software
  • Reliable and flexible
  • A good basic level of English and Maths
  • The ability to work alone as well as part of a team
  • Have a full driving licence
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
