Standard Servicing

1-STAR Service & Calibration

  • Pipette dismantled, cleaned internally, inspected and leak tested
  • Where necessary, worn parts are replaced
  • Pipette cleaned externally
  • If necessary, your pipette will be adjusted to comply and recalibrated
  • Calibration date sticker to show the next calibration-due date
  • Certificate of Calibration for each pipette, specifying the results and any replacement parts fitted

1-STAR As-Found Calibration

  • Pipette checked against manufacturer’s specification*
  • Calibration date sticker to show the next calibration-due date
  • Certificate of Calibration for each pipette

1-STAR Calibration (to manufacturer’s specification*)
Single-Channel: a four reading accuracy and precision check at mid-point
Multi-Channels: two readings taken on EVERY channel at mid point

Mail-In Servicing
Our normal turn-around time is within 5 working days from receipt to dispatch, provided that we have all the information required. Free return postage by courier.

On-Site Servicing

*Calibration to ISO 8655 or your own specifications can be performed instead if you wish.

Multi-Channels: visual check is made across EVERY channel and three readings taken on middle channel

We can service your pipettes to your exact requirements:

  • You choose the number of readings per channel
  • You choose the number of test points

UKAS Calibration

As a UKAS accredited calibration laboratory (4296), you can be sure that all our staff are competent and fully-trained, that our instruments are calibrated and properly maintained, and our calibration is carried out in the correct conditions. UKAS is an internationally recognised standard which ensures full traceability of data, and requires both internal and external quality control.

STARLAB is accredited to perform UKAS calibrations with five or ten readings. The UKAS Certificate of Calibration includes a statement of measurement uncertainty per volume setting. We can also perform a full service, repair of the pipette, and replacement of any spare parts, if required.

As Found UKAS Calibration

Checks the performance of your pipette prior to servicing or as part of your regular checks. No adjustment of the pipette is made; this is purely a statement of how the pipette is performing.

  • Pipette is checked against specification (manufacturer's, ISO 8655 or your own)
  • Calibration sticker
  • Certificate of Calibration for each pipette

Service & UKAS Calibration

For pipettes requiring a service as well as calibration to UKAS standards:

  • Pipette dismantled, cleaned internally, inspected and leak tested
  • Where necessary, worn parts are replaced
  • Pipette cleaned externally
  • Calibration sticker
  • Certificate of Calibration for each pipette, showing the results and any replacement parts fitted

Pre & Post

Comprises an As Found UKAS Calibration to show how your pipette has been performing prior to us performing a Service and final UKAS Calibration:

  • As Found UKAS Calibration (as above), followed by
  • Service & UKAS Calibration (as above)

Calibration levels

10 Readings at 3 Volumes:
10 readings on ALL channels at min, mid and max points.

10 Readings at 2 Volumes:
10 readings on ALL channels at min and max points.

5 Readings at 3 Volumes*:
5 readings* on ALL channels at min, mid and max points.

5 Readings at 2 Volumes*:
5 readings* on ALL channels at min and max points.

*Please note that by selecting 5 readings it is on the understanding that it does not permit a conclusion of conformity to ISO 8655.
