Our green mission.

When you take one step forward in the lab, you should not have to take two steps back where environmental protection is concerned. Only when scientific progress is also sustainable, will it unfold long-term benefits for all of us in terms of climate issues.

That is why we at Starlab have been thinking about sustainability for some time, with long-term corporate planning and durable products. We already succeeded in saving plastic with our TipOne® pipette tip system and the closed-loop recycling service. However, the truth is that we all still have a long way to go towards a fully sustainable laboratory.

For you and for our planet, our mission is to continually look for intelligent, climate-friendly products and processes. Our promise along the way: to continue to take steps wherever we can— both large and small—to reduce our impact on the environment.

Let's make this possible together!

Reducing impact: the TipOne® closed-loop.

Starlab's closed-loop recycling service for TipOne® polypropylene components, provides several environmental benefits such as reducing waste, reuse of resources, and reducing our need to source to virgin material.

During the year 2024, the recycling service saved 38.72 tonnes CO2 equivalent. Because Starlab will repeatedly reuse the recyclate in it own TipOne® products, the actual savings will increase with every cycle through the closed loop.

Since the beginning of 2025, recycled material from the labs is being used in the manufacture of TipOne® racks produced in Germany. This milestone not only marks the closing of the recycling loop, but also the start of moving TipOne® production to Europe and placing manufacturing closer to our core customers. By moving production from the USA to Germany, Starlab is embracing “local for local” production and reducing environmental impact.
